Various Matters…

The Admission task force for the ISB Admissions 2006-07 met today and we discussed on how the presentations for the information sessions should be and various other things that cannot be delved into here. ISB is focussing on 2 things in admissions this year:
1. Lot more foreign applicants
2. Lot more women students
I am not into advertising ISB here but I feel the campaign “Marriage, Motherhood, MBA” is a powerful and apt one and the alliteration suits reality. There are a lot of mothers in my batch and I can tell with certainity that many of them are doing better than me in the PGP programme so far. This school is really very well suited for the married- both men and women. First their kids have such a wonderful time on campus, their spouses have this wonderful facility with access to almost everything their student spouses have. In fact a student who is performing exceptionally (and who, I predict, will be in the news next year for topping this batch) is married and has two kids who are staying with him in campus!!! One thing commendable about the admissions team is still their capacity to listen to others. I had glimpse of it last October during the info session in Chennai and today I witnessed it during our meeting. These people respect and are ready to listen to just about any ideas that come by.

Among other matters, after completion of a marketing case last week, Prof. Raju remarked that for most of us this will be the last marketing case in our lives. I was rejoiced and started clapping in the class. Not that I dislike marketing but for some reason I am not able to perform to expectations in it. I think my specialization in MBA will not guided by my skill in certain field but the lack of it in other fields :-) .
