Embarrassment
You ask a question in class, it could have been the silliest of the question to ask on earth, you receive looks from people as if they are looking at the greatest fool they have ever met, the Professor says you are the a model (”nomoona”) for the dumbest person possible, 85 people laugh at you, how’d you feel? You don’t remember feeling so low ever before, and don’t know if you’d ever open your mouth in the class again…

On the contrary I think the prof is a namoona…I am a teacher and one of my policies in my class is ‘no put-downs allowed’.

I just went through this article and just HAD to respond. I don’t think that’s just from the Professor’s point. One of my Profesors always used to say “There’s no such thing as a silly question..there are only silly answers”. If everyone starts thinking whether one’s question might be silly, nobody would ever ask anything and, in the end, there would be no “knowledge”. Just think of what would happen if Einstein had stopped questioning Classical Physics(it would have definitely seemed the silliest of arguments during his time)!
