Watched Mozhi again…
…this weekend. The movie’s performance is really heart-warming and leaves one convinced that the public still craves to watch such positive movies. It ran almost housefull yesterday in Mayajaal though the multiplex has increased the number of shows per day for the movie going by its first fortnight’s performance. The crowd predominantly consisted of young families with so many kids. I should add that women generally seem to enjoy the movie a lot. They laugh aloud at almost all the jokes.
I noticed some subtle things in the movie yesterday:
1. Prithvi Raj’s name appears even before Prakash Raj’s and Jyothika’s names in the titles.
2. When the titles scroll, a music plays and the corresponding musical notes (I think) appear in a music sheet (or whatever that is called) in the background. Good idea!
3. When I first heard the song “Pesa Madanthaye“, I thought Yesudas had sung it (especially when the person sings the lines “vizhi pesum siththirame“, the typical nasal voice appears in the lower notes). Later learnt that it was sung by Madhu Balakrishnan.
Due to the unexpected success of the movie, its home video release has been postponed indefinitely. While it’s a good news from the perspective of the producer, it shows that movie makers are still very fidgety when it comes to releasing their movie in discs. Not a very good new from the home video front.
